Methods Of Advertising

Methods Of Advertising

Advertising has evolved into a vastly complex form of communication, with literally thousands of different ways for a business to get a message to the consumer. It could be said that cave paintings in some way represented the first forms of advertising, although the earliest recognized version of what we know as advertising was done on papyrus by the Egyptians. And in Pompeii, the ruins suggest that advertising was commonplace.

However, today the advertiser has a vast array of choices. The Internet alone provides many of these, with the advent of branded viral videos, banners, advertorials, sponsored websites, branded chat rooms and so much more.

There are many ways of advertising, here some of these advertising methods:

·         Print Advertising

If an advertisement is printed on paper, be it newspapers, magazines, newsletters, booklets, flyers, direct mail, or anything else that would be considered a portable printed medium, then it comes under the banner of print advertising.

·         Broadcast Advertising

A mass-market form of communication including television and radio, broadcast advertising has, until recently, been the most dominant way to reach a large number of consumers.

·         Outdoor Advertising

Also known as out-of-home (OOH) advertising, this is a broad term that describes any type of advertising that reaches the consumer when he or she is outside of the home.

·         Public Service Advertising

Unlike traditional commercials, Public Service Advertisements (PSA) are primarily designed to inform and educate rather than sell a product or service.

Online shopping

Online Shopping

With increased use of Internet, more and more people are drawn towards online shopping. This means of buying products has gained immense popularity in today's times. Earlier, Internet was only accessible to people of developed countries, but recent revolution has made it accessible to almost all parts of the world. With increased awareness, people now flock towards Internet for shopping.

Advantages:

The best part of online shopping is that you can shop from home. There is no need to go to the mall to purchase the item you need. You just need to order and it will be available right at your doorstep.

As you shop from the comfort of your home, you save on gas and time that would otherwise have been spent to reach to the nearest store and look for the desired product.

It is convenient and easy! You do not need any degree to learn online shopping. All you have got to do is, visit the website, search for your product and buy it. Your product is just a click away!

Shopping online gives you the privilege to shop whenever you want. The stores are never closed and you can do your shopping 24x7.

It provides variety to the buyer. You don't need to jump from shop to shop to look for varieties of a product available in the market. The options available online are many and this is one of the best features of online shopping.

Shopping from malls and stores makes it difficult to compare between features and prices of products. Shopping through websites provides simplified comparison of products and helps in deciding which one should be purchased.

Many websites device special discount schemes from time to time to attract customers. You can always buy products under such schemes and save a lot of money.

It keeps annoying salesperson at bay. Aggressive salesmen often pressurize you to buy their products. This harassment can be simply escaped by shopping using the Internet.

Disadvantages

The first disadvantage is that there is a time lag between you making the payment and the delivery of the product.

You cannot try out the product before buying it. Many people like to try things out before making the payment. This feature remains missing when you buy a product online.

High shipping costs often add up to the total cost of the product. Companies usually set very high shipping costs, which add to the total expenditure. Also, if the product is shipped from another country, you are liable to pay extra taxes for it.

The payment mode may not be secure. With increased security issues, making online payment through debit or credit cards might be an insecure mode of transaction. It is therefore important to check whether the payment gateway is secured or not.

Possibility of product damage while shipping cannot be nullified. If the product received is damaged, it may again take several days for replacement or the company may not provide any replacement at all.

The ease of shopping can be extremely dangerous for shopaholics, as they may get provoked to buy many items at a time leading to unwanted expenditure.

The incidence of billing errors is high and if you encounter one, you will again have to follow a long procedure and wait for several days before the error gets resolved.

You need to have a debit or credit card to make a purchase. Very few websites give you the option of paying cash or check on delivery.

These are a few steps of how to online shop safely and easily:

1-Choose a trusted web-site.

2-Create an account & log in.

3-Select the items you want to buy.

4-Go to checkout & enter your credit information.

5- Complete the checkout process.

Trip to Towell Auto

Our ICT teacher took us on a trip to towell which was on Wednesday 13th of march,2013.  This trip has benefited us in several ways, for example: it gave us a small knowledge about the big companies and the technologies and devices and systems such big companies use. When we arrived they told us a brief introduction about the company's history and what type of things does it trade and sell for people. What I understood from what they said that the company was established on 1972. They told us that the cars' parts were brought from USA whereas the cars themselves were brought from China and the dealers were here in Oman. Some of the automobiles which they trade here in Oman are Mazda, Geely Emgrand, Higer, JAC motors and many others. The company has three main departments which are: Finance department , service department which and finally the ICT department which is in my opinion the most important department as it saves all the  records of the purchases of the company, and also because most of the things in the company uses ICT. The company uses different servers for example: LAN & WAN. Since the ICT department is a very important department and has most of the information about everything in the company it has a backup system for the lost data or if in case any thing had happened. They also use security devices (biometrics ) in the company such as finger prints. They also have expert systems in all the departments which helps the customers. This was a summary about what we did and we learned from this company. We had a good experience and a great knowledge about many things which were unknown for us till we went to this trip. Thanks to our ICT teacher who took us in such beneficial and amazing trip.
